For our art project, we were assigned to create Charlemagne. In our painting , you may have noticed a Christmas tree. This Christmas tree shows how Charlemagne was crownded by the pope on Christmas morning. The stained glass window is a representation of churches in his time period. The sun that is in the stained glass window represents how he was crowned in the morning. The brown cross next to the Christmas tree shows that he was the defender of the pope and that he was strongly invested in the Christian faith. |

This is our propoganda poster. It represents when Spartacus went to war and when people were crucified. Spartacus and some of his fellow soldiers were locked up in shackles, which is also represented in the image. Spartacus was taken to the top of a mountain, and was crucified because he had betrayed the Roman Emperor. Our slogan means that you should join Spartacus or face the consequences. |
Art Project: The Aztecs
|
The serpent played a very important role in Aztec religion. The word for serpent in Nahuatl, the language spoken by the Aztecs, is coatl and is associated with several gods such as Quetzalcoatl (Feathered Serpent), Xiuhcoatl (Fire Serpent), Mixcoatl (Cloud Serpent) or Coatlicue (She of the Serpent Skirt), the mother of the Aztec god Huitzilopochtli. The habit of snakes to shed their skin each year probably led to them being used to convey ideas concerning renewal and transformation. Likewise the ability of many species to move freely between water, earth and the forest canopy helped underline their symbolic role as intermediaries between the different layers of the cosmos (underworld, earth and sky). We chose the two-headed serpent is because of it’s unique features, and it’s resemblance of the snake god, Quetzalcoatl. |

Art Project: India's Culture
|
These paintings depict different aspects of India's vibrant culture. They exhibit the very artistic and religious based lifestyle of the native people. These pieces of art show religion, art, jewelry/clothing, dance, and the history of India. In art, physical beauty and religion are a big factor. An example of this is the famous form of body art, henna, Dance is also affected by religion. The dances usually will tell stories of the gods or other parts of their religion. Jewelry and clothing also show off the artistic side of India. Clothes are usually vivid, elaborate, and use a lot of fabric. Most women in India also wear jewelry. History also shapes and is part of their culture. It has led to the separating of civilizations who formed their own traditions and culture. And last of all, religion has affected most everything there is to India. It consists of Hinduism and Buddhism, many gods and Buddha, and many other things.
